Should I buy the Zoom RC?
Buy it if…
You are a beginner in RC cars
There are many kinds of RC cars on the market. Zoom RC16102 and Zoom RC16103 have three gears: low, medium and high. Even a novice can quickly get started. You just need to choose the style you like.
You want to choose an RC car suitable for a variety of venues
Zoom RC16102 and Zoom RC16103 are suitable for playing on a variety of venues, including flat ground, sand, mud, grass and snow. Paired with waterproof ECS, even simple wading in water is no problem.
Want to give a special gift but have a limited budget
RC cars are suitable for both adults and children. If you want to give a special gift, Zoom RC16102 and Zoom RC16103 are only £109, and they also have free birthday packaging and greeting card writing services, which are also very good as gifts.
Don’t buy it if…
You want an RC car speeds more than 100km/h
If you are an experienced RC car player and want an RC car with a speed of hundreds of kilometers per hour, the speed of Zoom RC16102 will not meet your requirements.
You enjoy the assembly process more
If you want to build an RC car from scratch and want a refined model rather than speed and entertainment, then the Tamiya RC Scania is more suitable for you.
We buy and test the best value RC cars, which is why the Zoom RC is our first choice.
Summary: Buying an affordable RC car no longer means losing out on all speed and quality. During testing, we found the Zoom RC to match and even exceed the quality of expensive “big brand” RC cars.
Zoom RC16102 is currently on sale for a limited time on its website.
Driving RC cars has been a passion of mine for two decades. I started driving RC cars as a hobby in 2004 and gradually moved on to high-speed RC cars and all the other newer models as technology improved.
While these high-end RC cars are fun to drive, they are also difficult to control and very expensive.
Imagine crashing a RC car worth thousands of dollars on your first try as a beginner? It would be heartbreaking! And because of the speed, the repair costs and maintenance costs are also very expensive.
However, the problem with cheaper RC cars is that while they are easy to use, they are often slow and the quality is often poor!
So when I was asked to review the Zoom RC and saw that it only cost £109, I thought it would be another crappy RC car with poor speed and quality. But after multiple tests, I found out how wrong I was thinking!
Zoom RC16102 has proven to be a high-end RC car with playability and speed suitable for beginners and even hobbyists like myself.
My First Impression
My package arrived within 4 days of ordering, which already put me in a good mood. There is nothing worse than buying something new online and waiting weeks for it to arrive. So far, I am happy with the delivery process of this company.
After opening the package, I took Zoom RC16102 in my hand and was immediately confused. The RC car I held looked like a £500 RC car. Its high-toughness explosion-proof shell, full of elasticity, sturdiness and manufacturing quality reminded me of all the high-end RC car models I have tested. The packaging quality is very high and very suitable for gift giving. After testing, I immediately bought some for my friends
We all know the difference between cheap or flimsy products and high-quality products, whether it’s a camera, a robot vacuum cleaner or a mobile phone. RC cars are no exception, and the speed and quality of the Zoom RC16102 are amazing.
Design
Zoom RC16102 adopts PVC explosion-proof shell. The body adopts 4 independent spring shock absorbers, which are full of elasticity and fast rebound. The anti-skid and wear-resistant vacuum large tires, concave cam pattern, strong grip, pressure resistance and wear resistance. Equipped with head-up wheels, front anti-collision bumper and high-toughness tail wing. It is difficult to find RC cars of the same quality in this price range for entertainment and excitement.
I started reading more about the RC car in the manual and when I saw that the top speed could reach 70km/h and the remote control distance could be up to 120m!
Can this company really design such a cost-effective RC car?
If this is true, it will be comparable to the expensive models of major brands. I still had some doubts and continued my investigation.
Control
The controller is very comfortable to hold in the hand. It is ergonomic and I had no problem operating it for a long time.
The infinitely variable speed remote control can be controlled from low speed to high speed at will through the throttle trigger, just like the throttle pedal of a real car.
The steering wheel is also very smooth, and you can use the steering wheel to change the direction of the car.
Test
It was finally time to test the capabilities of this RC car. The features I described earlier are all great, but they don’t mean much if the RC car doesn’t perform as promised.
The four most important features of a high-end RC car are top speed, ride time, durability, and ease of use. That’s what I focused on in my testing.
After fully charging the RC car battery and docking it, installing the tail wing and nose wheel, and preparing three AA batteries to install on the remote control, I went to the nearest beach and pressed the start button and remote control switch.
I held the RC car in my hand, adjusted the speed gear to the highest speed, and pressed the remote control trigger to the lowest position. I could immediately feel the pushing sensation of the car reflected in my hand.
Zoom RC16102 has three speed gears: high, middle and low. The low speed gear is suitable for novices or people who are not familiar with RC cars.
I let the Zoom RC16102 wade through the water at full speed and it was very silky smooth and could continue to run at high speeds. This test proves that the waterproof ESC mentioned by the merchant is effective, and it is also possible to drive the original tires on sand.
Then I replaced the sand tires. After replacing the sand tires, the grip was better, the driving was smoother, and the head-up test was also possible. Even if it hits a high altitude and falls, there will be no problem. This test proves its durability.
It’s very similar to the £500 model I tested, with the only slight difference being that the top speed might be a bit different. So far, so good.
To my surprise, the transmission distance was also as promised! I was able to travel 120 meters without losing signal. The speed can also reach the marked 70km/h.
The light also has three levels, including steady light, fast flashing and slow flashing modes, which can also be very cool during driving.
Surprisingly, after all my testing, I checked the battery and it was still at 20%! I went through 20 minutes of speed and various debugging tests and still had some energy left. However, in order to enjoy the driving pleasure for a long time, I purchased two additional batteries as replacements.
How does the Zoom RC16102 differ from other products?
Why should I choose the Zoom RC16102?
After a few days of testing the Zoom RC16102 and Zoom RC16103 and all its features, I can confidently say that you can’t compare it to anything in its price range. The quality and performance of this RC car is truly on par with the big brands that cost over £300. Here are some reasons why the Zoom RC is superior:
Top speed of 70 km/h: Zoom RC16102 and Zoom RC16103 are an excellent RC car that combines speed and performance. The brushless motors with a top speed of 70 km/h not only reduce maintenance costs, but are also perfect for thrill seekers who like fast-paced driving.
Battery life: Even if you keep driving at top speed all the time, you can still enjoy it for about 18 minutes. If you rotate between low, medium and high speeds, you can also enjoy it for about 25 minutes, which is much longer than other RC cars of the same price.
High-toughness explosion-proof PVC shell: The body adopts high-toughness, explosion-proof PVC shell, which is very durable and resistant. You can play in various cool ways without worrying about damaging the shell at once. You can also change the shell you like according to your preferences, which increases its customization and fun.
Suitable for a variety of scenarios: Equipped with large tires with strong grip, it is suitable for all terrains, including flat land, sand, mud, grass and snow. With waterproof ECS, it ensures stable operation in different environments.
Continuously variable speed remote control: Zoom RC16102 and Zoom RC16103 can be controlled from low speed to high speed at will through the throttle trigger, just like the throttle pedal of a real car, allowing you to control the real car.
Multiple protection functions: charging protection, anti-lock protection, high temperature protection, and low voltage protection make it a comprehensive and reliable choice.
